hollow behind panes like vases in cases their glassy eyes swim inside ceramic faces indoctrinated premium graded they await their favorite to take the stage the dark room sweats anticipation for illumination to consume their sight a sound like a shot they’re revealed by the light rows and rows like teeth footsteps foreshadow the shadow grows on the floor their faces press the window as it darkens the door behold! it’s time to start the show the light deconstructs across the blade the body is plundered to uproarious thunder there’s not a dry eye or seat in the house the sides of their mouths turn upwards as their hands turn red with his work they splash their symbols against the window and across their chests and upon their shirts he reaches in pulls out and holds up for the crowd the most fantastic part and they cheer he reaches in pulls out and holds up the most rotted they swell and swell until they leak they scream for him smear their mouths against the glass he says don’t worry any of you could be next they scream for him that he is their favorite he says that he will never die

i know this thing two eyes one nose two ears and mouth it opens and says things that I might say myself it’s shape gives me comfort but there’s something else inside it perhaps something grows perhaps something that I once felt this figure’s unfamiliar i don’t know who or what from where it streaks at the edges and dissolves into the air A crumbling something, a nothing, bleak and bare i could not meet with recognition its starved stranger’s stare this thing, it is a stain i know it’s shapes not it smears across some kind of pain under a sun that blots

it’s hilarious you make a fist and squeeze the stone but the blood won’t drip i’m so glad I’m here these poisoned years my flesh feels cold tomorrow must be near there’s a mouth with a megaphone and the sound goes on and on we know it exists because it tells us so there’s a pot sitting on the stove a bird for which it boils it’s head’s cut off but it still goes and goes there’s a town that no one knows there reside two heroes one goes to the other and shoots em right in the face here’s a plate of exquisite cheese everyone loves exquisite cheese why not?

we are white noise indecipherable static distortions churning slowly among the mutations miscarriages and abortions reflected on the water among the stars break the surface we twist and shatter which is them? which you? what’s the difference? what’s it matter? a million receivers on a million screens a disembodied hand answers a million rings i don’t need to peek between my fingers i’ve seen this one before their heads cocked a gesture of question to no answer although there were plenty and when their question is in turn questioned they reply as one because we were too many little creatures stack heavy stones in a circle around their toys hymenoptera, arachnida they repeat their patterns by voice one places a blade of grass and lights it ablaze upon the scorpions back a comedy plays in fits and starts as the fire ants tear it apart these creatures smile and poke it with sticks blood stain faced and innocent we are white noise all buzzing at the same time we stare at nothing with hopeful eyes

the day’s weather was mild in temperature and consequence adhering to no implied demand the man’s head raised slightly to accost and yet the sky remained the man stood against it perpendicular in tepidity he had for years more than any could remember less than a memorable number this is time among much and many these are not the good times these are not the bad times these are just the times merely a string of banal torments briefly punctuated by fleeting moments of forgetfulness of all torments that preceded and all torments that shall follow but this day was changing was taking on meaning the clouds they parted and the birds started singing the past was the past and the future was crowning ruminations bent backwards sensations were sounding and all of these memories of things that had passed and all of these premonitions of things to come he poured over his head covered his body and stared directly at the sun

sit right down and tune right in it’s your favorite program and it’s about to begin it’s the one that shows those that have what you deserve and all the cool cool stuff in their cool cool world look at her hair, look at her face don’t you just wanna wear it, wouldn’t that be great? look at his head, look at his smile don’t you just wish you had their skin and their style? sit right down, fixate your stare we’ll show you what’s really going on out there a bunch of people died and you will be next but now a word from our celebrity guests they’re just like you and they’ll tell you why you’ll feel so much you’ll laugh, you’ll cry so wipe the nervous sweat off from your hands and be satisfied. ain’t life grand! you will be first if you call in now remove those blemishes and all that doubt turn your teeth white and your genitals gold make you a suck-sess and save your soul its such a wonderful time to have this view to understand how to do what we do the right things to think the right things to say plug me in show me the way i couldn’t imagine a better life than the one that’s imagined for me every day
8.
find the knife find the hand find the source of the hand listen, they’re chanting the name look, the hills are in flames lay down in the grass let it wash over you in waves when you dredge the lake you’ll find me you’ll find what you came looking for and you’ll find you too his hand shook as he held the blade a flash of the shapes that the starlings made the captain laughs a flash of black rain the lather goes cold as the captain calls his name back in his room the walls start to talk he glues to the box in the doctor walks and the doctors says eat your peas on his screen two detectives lean over what seems to be his own grisly scene “did they count?” “what with numbers?” “no in life” “well now they’re dead” “so now both neither” i’m a simple man he says they dance behind his back you’re an animal they tell him the captain laughs the earth is hot as coals in hell but he feels cold as ice doctor, this world spins red in tooth and claw all I see is red and all I hear’s the walls and the doctor says eat your peas like in a dream another scene visions vindicated open hands sky raised looking up she sees a different face knife in his hand mind displaced she tells their child it’s okay to cry but the child doesn’t need to cry the child doesn’t want to cry the child wants to destroy everything find the knife find the hand distant chants see the hand its pace is steady stage is ready a clean cut for the man a warm lather rufous splatter two stock still in the mirror the child looks at captain then himself then he smiles and eats no peas

everything you have ever heard and everything you thought you knew is a lie that’s tricky what to do for people who have no clue they dig these graves to die well how bout that dysphoric language injection reflex flip back to the page of act 2:3 think back to the the way in which the birds sing oh what strange violence tomorrow brings you meet eyes with a stranger walking down the street they see you see them see something about you you brush against a stranger sitting on the train they know you know they know something about you you scream bomb no one moves did you scream it in your head? you scream fire they look at you did you scream it in your head? you said nothing the whole time they are upon you are they the ones who screamed? did you see them in your head? people imitating things that are made by people to imitate people imitating things you stare deep into their dearth for some deeper meaning as they flash across pathetic fallacy screens explode behind your eyes saturn eats its rings oh what strange violence tomorrow brings

put your bottle out the window and fill it with rain pour its contents in your pocket out the window again the neighbor’s at the door they say they’re your friend the cover of the book they hand you says the end open to a figure that wears your face on the next the same on the third you’ve been replaced something viscous drips from the page something viscous beats in your cage they them they them they them they the eyes in the blinds are taking your size they measure your time did you forge when you signed? take your seat on the bench in the park adjacent someone sits reading in dark obscured by paper all you see is headlines two holes cut you are seen by two eyes break the bread feed the birds look back up at the pictures and words the paper ruffles with a muffled laugh under two eyes your face smiles back they them they them they them they stand in line for your piece of chalk draw a line the length of your walk when found lying there this will be your scene the sound of your crime will be that you’ve been seen nobody ever thinks but everybody always knows nobody ever thinks but everybody knows nobody ever thinks but everybody always knows but nobody ever thinks that there would be that much blood don’t worry they’re coming for you don’t worry they’re coming for you don’t worry they’re coming for you they’re coming for you
